Best Creative Dish
Update:
Unfortunately this place has closed - Brunswick lost a great cafe!

The venue seems quite spacious, capable of fitting many people in. The fit out itself is very clean and well designed. The coffee is good. Tempting too are the freshly squeezed fruit juice combos like Thirst Busters’ blend of watermelon, apple, strawberry and mint.
Breakfast is served all day here, accommodating the late risers. You'll be spoilt for choice here: 3 different omelettes ($14.50) including smoked salmon, dill and brie; Classic Eggs poached on muffins with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and topped with hollandaise ($15.50); Eggs Benedict or Florentine ($13); Eggs Atlantic or Bacon Benedict ($14); Brekkie Stack of poached eggs, hash brown, salmon, avocado, hollandaise & sourdough ($16.50). There’s even vegan scrambled tofu ($12) and a Breakfast Trifle of yoghurt, muesli and berry compote ($6.50).
And don’t forget to check the specials on the board – today there was banana bread with honey, ricotta hotcakes with poached fruit and cinnamon and more omelettes like the pumpkin, fetta and bacon one ($15 .50) amongst others.
The Brunswick Brekkie ($17) with two eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms (with thyme), sausage, hash brown and sourdough – all quality ingredients, but the hash brown definitely stood out.
The signature dish of Filter Eggs ($15.50) was exceptionally creative, and just as delicious. 2 round holes were cut in the middle of the sourdough and 2 eggs were cooked in the holes. It was topped with bacon, rocket, aioli and the 2 circles of sourdough, surrounded by a ring of pesto, with "filter" scrawled across the plate in balsamic reduction. Cheap advertising. But this fancy smanchy dish delivered. It's not often I'll prefer a dish with fried eggs to poached but this surprised me. And the sourdough circles were absolutely delectable, though probably really unhealthy…
