Best Croissants
Situated at the corner of Queen Victoria Market this bakery stall has a huge 'Post Office' sign outside. It serves pies, roast beef sandwiches, danishes, sweet slices & the tastiest croissants ($3.50). Fillings range from ham & cheese,
bacon & cheese with white sauce, spinach & cheese, hot dog, tomato & cheese. The cherry slice is worth trying too.
Sour cherries with a sweet, crisp merengue dusted with icing sugar and flaked almonds top on pastry… just sometimes the pastry has a thick glue-y layer on top. Their French breakfast ($6.95) comes with 2 fried eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and a croissant. Alternatively, I like to buy their plain croissants ($1.50), go home and fill them myself.
