Café Denaro
104 Fletcher St, Essendon, VIC
Di Bella Coffee
Coffee could be better but the food was good, and service efficient.
Breakfast Stack ($13.90) - homemade hash brown (read: roesti), sauté baby spinach, poached egg, smoked salmon, avocado, wild rocket & hollandaise. The hash brown was crisp and not too salty - a rarity! The egg was perfectly done and the salmon fresh (but not enough).
Impressed, we ordered the French Toast with caramelised banana & bacon ($13.90) which was pretty good too. The menu has lots of variety with dishes like Ricotta Pancakes with mixed berry compote ($10.50) that caught our fancy so we wanted to go back and try to push this up to 4 beans. Unfortunately, the 2nd trip confirmed 3 beans.
The Denaro Special ($14.90) - 2 poached eggs on an english muffin, ham, baby spinach, melted cheese topped with Napoli, hollandaise & fresh herbs was pretty bad due to 1 main ingredient – the hollandaise. It was a sour lump of yellow jello which tasted so foul we had to scrap it off to save the rest of the food which was decent.
The Big One ($14.90) - Bacon, sausages, hash brown, baked beans (we asked for it to be put separately), poached eggs & tomato was nothing to shout about either.

Hi
Went to Cfae Denaro on 20/03/09 and couldnt see no reason why it shoulnt get four beans! Served by a waiter kim made myself and my husban the best i have ever had it was so creamy. We took your advice and tried the stack and denaro special. Well i think there is a new chef because there was a lot of salmon on the stack and the denaro spical was a bit different but the hollandaise sauce was smooth fresh taste. We recommed you go back and try again.
Hi, thanks for your comments. We will consider going back... but for the moment, there's lots of new places to explore - and not enough weekends to do that!
