Grinders coffee

The function venue looks too grand to be affordable. Luckily for us, there’s a café beside that. It was a warm beautiful day, should have brought my doggy to sit on the deck. Oh well, at least sitting outside avoids the pesky flies… although the café was fully equipped with aerosol!

We were tossing up between 3 options for the all day breakfast: Croque monsieur toasted sourdough with smoked leg ham, gruyere and dijon mustard ($11), Poached eggs, toasted muffin, smoked salmon, baby spinach, tarragon aioli and roasted tomato ($15), and Carousel breaky -scrambled eggs, toasted pide, tomato pesto, sautéed mushrooms & crispy bacon ($15). We ended up ordering the latter 2.

It was definitely a high 3. The mushrooms in the Carousel breaky could be tastier. The poached eggs could be slightly more cooked and the toasted muffin could be more crisp instead of hard but overall it was scrumptious. Especially the tarragon aioli and tomato pesto. The couple beside ordered an apple crumble lookalike and if I wasn’t so full, I would have ordered either that or the chocolate truffle cake in a flash. The mocha was pretty good too.Service was friendly and food came out fast. With such a great location (what a better way to spend a lazy Sunday than eating brunch beside a lake full of swans and watching the joggers go past!), we’ll be back pretty soon.
