El Mirage
349 Lygon Street, Brunswick East, VIC
At the more industrial side of Lygon St, we were delighted at the decking set up outside (yet away from the main road) - perfect for doggies! Service was efficient but not so friendly (with the exception of an Asian lady who didn't speak the best English but kept smiling at us).
There's Bircher muesli with a raspberry compote ($9.50), Pancakes topped with lemon curd, mascarpone & maple syrup ($12), Poached fruit cobbler with yoghurt ($8.50) or more substantial egg items. We tried the Eggs Benedict ($12.50), which came with a not so pleasant yellow hollandaise and prosciutto.
More unusual was the Machacado – scrambled eggs with chorizo, mushrooms and tomato ($14.50). While there wasn't anything in particular to complain about, there wasn't anything that special either. A slight disappointment!
