Griffiths coffee

Opened recently on the ground floor of a new apartment development just off Brunswick St, it's a lot quieter but still offers the relaxed and intimate café atmosphere that Brunswick St is known for. Parking isn't any easier though. The cafe sits on either side of the apartment building's central stairway, linked by a corridor that tunnels beneath the stairs. Note the fake stag's head. Otherwise, the décor (including the fireplace) is classy yet cosy.

Lots of appealing menu varieties. We tried the Free range scrambled eggs with pesto, roasted tomato, spinach & mushrooms ($14.50) which had yummy mushrooms but the scrambled wasn't as good as Fandango's. Then again, probably nothing will be.
The Grilled chorizo, tomato, spanish onion & coriander omelette ($12.90) was nice too, except it could do with more chorizo.
Next time we'll probably try the Triple stack of pancakes w caramelized banana or blueberries, strawberries & pure maple syrup ($11.90) or the Toasted open Turkish pide w crispy bacon, roquette, avocado, cottage cheese, tabasco & lemon ($11.90)

With lots more choices for lunch and dinner, I'm pretty sure the people staying upstairs aren't complaining!
