Best Salmon

This place is so popular that the 1st time we went during freezing winter, we had to sit outside. This time, we insisted on waiting for a table inside. The service is neither the best nor the fastest, but I guess they don't need to think about that with the steady flow of people.

Coffee beans were good, barrista had a unique way of making a mocha - by making a latte and putting a huge dollop of chocolate powder on top, as if it was the sprinking of cocoa. Somehow the black & white chequered floor left an impression on me, as did the price.

Both items we tried on the 1st trip: the Eggs Benedict ($17.50) and the Croque Monsieur - ham, gruyere, bechamel and mustard toasted sandwich($12.50) were delicately prepared and delicious. This time, we had the European Breakfast - eggs, tomato, bacon, a huge mushroom on freshly baked toast ($17.50) which was good but nothing to scream about, and the Tom Cooper salmon with pancakes ($18.50). That was the star of the meal - the freshest smoked salmon I've tasted, if there's such a thing. No skimping on portions too - well worth the money. The supposed pancakes (more like piklets to me) were tasty too, and the caviar added a nice touch to the dish.
