Bistrot d'Orsay
184 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC
Genovese Coffee
This is where I 1st realised my love for Genovese Coffee. The Age comments about the atmosphere, the smart waiters & the wine list. Situated next door the Athenaeum Theatre and with views of Regent Theatre directly opposite, Bistrot D’Orsay is ideal for pre theatre dinners. I never thought of dining near my office until I heard rave reviews about their Eggs Benedict, which did not disappoint. Delicately prepared poached eggs with toasted muffins & delicious hollandaise.
They also had the newly best (after discovering Animal Orchestra) Raspberry & White Chocolate muffins ($3) - 'had' being the key word. When I went back recently, the same muffin had changed it's look & sadly, it's taste too.
Other downs: It's slightly pricey for the portions. They end breaky early so no sleeping in. The menu has not much variety so we ended up ordering eggs add bacon & mushrooms. The sides were good, but the scrambled eggs cost $1.50 extra and were laced with egg-shell.

I have tried so many raspberry & white choc muffins and the best is hands down Barista 101 in Flinders Lane at the rear of 101 Collins St. They are usually sold out by 9am but its worth the early rise :)
Thanks for the tip! I really liked the muffin top - refer to my recent post =)
