Genovese Coffee
Best Hash

I wanted to try Circa before my mum left Melbourne but it was no longer serving breakfast so we walked along Acland St & decided on this place solely for the coffee. The menu had variety too - the usual favourites as well as those with slight twists.

The St Kilda Hash ($14, supposedly the best in St Kilda) included smoked bacon, spinach, a poached egg, unripe avocado and the biggest but tastiest hash I've ever eaten. Not even sure what’s inside.
The Big Ben ($13), add mushrooms ($2.50) was excellent but the hollandaise could be improved.Overall, definitely worth going back. And I did… even ordered the same dish. The St Kilda Hash’s avocado was better this time, but the poached egg undercooked. The coffees were excellent but cold.

The Red Hot & Grilled ($14.50) was described as ‘Man food’ – fried eggs, chipolatas, bacon, tomatoes (with feta on top), mushrooms, toasted pide with butter on a sizzling hot skillet. It obviously was too hot that all the ingredients, while nice and tasty, became far too overcooked. And where was the mushrooms promised? Seems like they forgot…
