Supreme Coffee
A buzzy venue with a choice of inside, street-side and courtyard seating. Service is pretty bad unless you're a regular, in which case, it's very warm. I guess that's why there aren't any signs/service to let new customers know they have to order at the counter - many end up waiting at the table for ages to get a menu. Bad service was evident when we asked a waitress for sugar - her reply being, "I'm new here" and not referring us to someone else.
The menu is diverse - sushi, Turkish pide, burgers, lots of vegetarian options. The more unusual items were: Wok-fried Shanghai eggs with oyster sauce, chilli and spring onions; parmesan scrambled eggs with oven roasted tomato.
Both of the options we tried were hearty and good value for money.
The Pan fried mushed potato cakes with poached eggs, spinach, bacon on toast with mayo & pesto ($16) had excellent runny poached eggs, crisp, fresh toast, a generous blob of chunky pesto (that had a little too much parmesan for me) and a soggy potato cake.
The Big plate - wok-fried eggs with marojam, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and chipolatas on grilled ciabatta ($16) had tasty but cold tomatoes, good mushies, 1 chipolata and slightly too much cheese on the eggs.
