Update:
We wanted to try Outpost but after some very bad service (more about that later), we ended up at the only place nearby again...This time we tried the Amici Brekkie - 2 eggs on toast with sauteed tomatoes, onions, basil and spinach, topped with hollandaise sauce ($16.50), add mushrooms ('cos they were so good the last time). The Hollandaise was foul but the mushrooms didn' disappoint.

The Italian Breakfast - homemade spicy pork and veal meatballs in a rich napoli sauce served with 2 poached eggs on toasted ciabatta ($16) was pretty good but I was comparing the meatballs to Galleon's and wasn't that impressed. The ciabatta on the other hand, was amazing! Such beautiful bread (& olive oil) that we had to buy a loaf home! No change in overall rankings though...

Service at Amici was a little bit haphazard, but the place was buzzing & we were sitting outside so they probably deserve some slack. Coffees were pretty, and breakfast is available all day.

We had Eggs Fungi ($15.90) - Pesto cornbread with tossed mixed mushrooms, 2 poached eggs and a fresh tomato salsa finished with herbs, add house made cheese chive hash brown($3.30). They went overboard on the pesto and I didn't like the cornbread but the mushrooms were very tasty.

We were delighted to see on the menu: House made waffles ($11.90) topped with strawberries, maple syrup and honey cinnamon yoghurt. Not so delighted when it came out as flat as the ones from the normal waffle irons, not the thick ones from industrial waffle irons. At least they weren't Belgian waffles. The yoghurt had far too much cinnamon but the strawberries were nice.

They also have what everyone claims to be an excellent big breakfast ($17.90) and Eggs on Toast ($8.50) with a huge range of extras including scrambled tofu, breakfast steak, halumi, cottage pesto potatoes.

In addition to other eggs variations, there are savoury pastries, salads, and a huge range of breads. The Cassalinga loaf ($5.50) was beautiful.

Amici also caters well to the sweet tooth. We bought the petite fours(or fives) which were not too bad tasting and really pretty. And the menu couldn't possible get bigger with interesting smoothies on offer as well!
