Bosisto's Liquor Bar

Rom Caffe coffee

This is the very understated take on a classic Euro café from the same owners of well-known bars, Double Happiness and New Gold Mountain. Cured meats hang over the counter, ever-popular wooden booths lead to a back room with a crackling fire, while Italian tomato tins are displayed as proudly as the alcohol.

Wine is the primary focus here and the 1 page list proves "less is more" as it spans everything from Cristal ($500 per bottle) to Italian 'goon' ($5 per glass). The night-time menu is short, affordable and sounds interesting: from fried haloumi, sliced meats and Sicilian olives to more substantial items like pork, veal and mushroom meatballs with pesto.

Coffee was pretty good here, and so was the warm service.

We had the famous dish of Eggs as you like with prosciutto, fior di latte mozzarella & roasted tomato ($16.50). The mozzarella was a tad daunting but went down nicely with the other ingredients. That said, I have tasted much better mozzarellas. The prosciutto was the star - so fresh and delicately sliced by their in-house slicer.

The Poached eggs, white anchovy, aioli & rocket on toast ($13) was good too, but the panini needed to be toasted (a little more) for it to be excellent.
